Jedburgh Abbey was founded by Augustinian monks in the 12th century, and a visit to it's magnificent ruins makes for a great day out. Only 20 minutes drive from Mosspaul, Hermitage Castle is well worh a visit.  Said to be Scotland's most sinister and atmospheric castle, it dates back to around 1240. The town of Langholm is around 20 minutes drive south of Mosspaul on the A7.  As well as a great short walk up to the monument to John Malcolm on Whita Hill, the area is threaded with walks, bike rides and drives through lovely borderland.  The High Street has some local shops and many places to grab a coffee and cake.  Visit Homespun, Sticks 'N' Stuff, Art Corner and Whitshiels cafe for a hearty
