What to expect

What to expect at The Wisp

Feeling a bit nervous? That’s completely normal.
Almost everyone arrives wondering what it will be like. By the first evening, most have forgotten they were worried.

Arriving

Come any time from 2pm on your first day. Check-out is by 11am on the last day. If you need a little flexibility, just ask.

Your room

You’ll have your own room with a double bed and a private en suite. Three rooms are in the main house and the rest are in cabins on site. It’s your quiet space whenever you want it.

The people

There are usually between 6 and 12 of us. Most guests come on their own, so no one is the odd one out. Your hosts, Alison and Eddie, join in just like everyone else. At The Wisp, everyone is equal.

Meals

We share simple vegetarian meals, and everyone helps. We all cook, eat and clear up together. It’s one of the easiest ways to get to know people, and no one needs to be a good cook.

Your days

There’s no timetable. You might walk, visit Samye Ling Monastery, read, chat over dinner or simply rest. Everything is optional, so join in as much or as little as you like.

Good to know

  • It’s an eco-site, so it can be cooler than you’re used to
  • Wi-Fi is in parts of the main house, not in the cabins
  • We’re generally alcohol-free
  • The X95 bus stops outside, so you don’t need a car

Still wondering if it’s for you? Send us a message. We’re happy to chat.
